In February, 2018, we hired an engineer to design and price electrification of the St. Bakhita Nursery and Primary School buildings. The engineering firm submitted partial cost estimates in March, and we await his final drawings. The United Nations has installed electric light poles from the town of Bweyale into the settlement to serve a health clinic and water tower. In 2017, they extended a branch past the St. Bakhita school yard to the adjacent Panyadoli Secondary School. The engineer will be looking at the feasibility of hooking up to the Panyadoli line so St. Bakhita Nursery and Primary School can have a source of power in addition to its one solar panel.
Stay tuned for what we hope will be a positive report, from which Schools for Refugees can seek grants to complete the project and enhance the education for our students.
